Keynote speaker Paresh Davdra said that focus and determination were key to success in business

Co-founder of Rational FX, Mr Davdra described the challenges in growing a business in a competitive environment and how to cope with scaling a business to reach a turnover. He spoke about the changing global space in a post Brexit era and how to encourage entrepreneurship and enterprise.

Mr Davdra said it was also important to recruit and retain talent in an ever-tightening labour market.

Deputy Lieutenant of the West Midlands Ninder Johal, a board member of the Black Country Local Enterprise Partnership and the West Midlands Growth Company, observed that despite the uncertainty around Brexit, the region had several positives including being a test bed for 5G, the greatest number of start-ups outside London and despite the problems around Jaguar Land Rover, the automotive and aerospace sectors continued to remain strong.

He also pointed to collaborative partnership working amongst the political parties in the region who are aligned to the benefit of the region rather than based on political ideology. He spoke about the need for businesses to be part of their community and to be more proactive in ensuring that their voice is heard in an ever-increasing uncertain world.
