Holden's Bottling Company was forced to stop production after supplies of gas ran out in June.

Operations director Mark Hammond said a trickle of supplies of the gas had resumed on July 7 and bottling at the factory in George Street, Woodsetton, had gradually returned to normal levels.

It is now back on track with bottling beers for neighbouring Holden's Brewery and is catching up on a backlog of bottling work for breweries from all over the country.

Mr Hammond said that there had been no lay-offs or job losses and the business was having to take a hit from the costs of keeping staff on through the time production was on hold.

"We are hoping for no further problems with supplies of carbon disoxide," he added.

The shortage was due to only one carbon dioxide production plant operating in the UK and most plants in northern Europe being down for maintenance,.
