The company has provided the RNLI’s Criccieth Lifeboat station in North Wales with one of its Truckman Utility hardtops, which will be used as a support vehicle for rescue operations.

Using Truckman’s newly-launched supportive scheme, the RNLI was able to save on the cost price of the hardtop. In addition to hardtops, the scheme also allows registered UK charities to receive a discount on a range of Truckman products, including everything from tow-bars to personalised car mats.

The hardtop has been fitted to one of the charity’s Mitsubishi L200 Mk8 vehicles, the L200 is used to launch smaller lifeboats from alternative locations during lower tides. The hardtop contains all the essential equipment that a lifeboat crew would need in an emergency situation, allowing them to be ready for any eventuality and ultimately helping to save lives.

Creating a mobile workshop in the pick-up’s truck bed, the Utility top is becoming the hardtop of choice for sectors, which require off-highway working. It provides essential space for racking, tools and equipment, which can be accessed through its rear and side gull wing doors.

Mike Wheeler, executive chairman at Truckman, said: “I’m delighted that Truckman has been able to support the RNLI’s good work through our new charity discount scheme.

“In 2016, the RNLI’s lifeboat crews saved more than 8,500 people from the sea. I am incredibly proud that one of our hardtops will be involved in that truly life-saving work. This charity is very close to my heart as I am a qualified Royal Yachting Association Coastal Skipper.

“Our hardtops are known for their durability and are battle-tested in the most adverse conditions by our customers, so I am confident it will serve the lifeboat crews well.”

Stuart Wallace, RNLI area lifesaving manager covering the Llyn Peninsula, said: “The new hardtop is helping our team of volunteer crew at Criccieth perform our lifesaving operations. As a charity reliant on donations to fund our 24/7 search and rescue service any financial support is much appreciated and the discount offered by Truckman was no exception.”

Registered charitable organisations based in the UK can take advantage of Truckman’s discount scheme by contacting 01384 485405.
