The Temp of the Year Awards are held annually by recruitment and people development firm Katie Bard, based on Waterloo Street in Birmingham.

The overall Temp of the Year Award was presented to Charlotte Smith after she impressed colleagues while working at the Bentley and Lamborghini showrooms in Birmingham.

The 22-year-old worked as a host at the dealerships while studying for her English degree.

The 2017 awards, held at Bank Restaurant and Bar at Brindleyplace, also saw Katie Bard mark the 40th anniversary of its parent company – the Angela Mortimer Group.

Daisy Wattam, temporary consultant at Katie Bard, said Charlotte was a worthy winner.

She said: “Charlotte thoroughly embraced the nature of the business and their customers, constantly strived to improve personally and professionally and was one of the most reliable and consistent temps we’ve ever had.

“She was described by her colleagues as everything they would possibly want in a member of staff and that she was a pleasure to work with.

“It is difficult to sum up just how fantastic she has been, and we congratulate her on winning our top award.”

Charlotte, who is from Stafford, first started temping through Katie Bard while at university and said the experience was invaluable.

“I absolutely loved my role at Bentley and Lamborghini and the other placements I’ve been on while working with Katie Bard,” she said.

“I now work in a permanent role in HR, and I can honestly say I wouldn’t be in the job I’ve got now if it wasn’t for the experience I had temping – it’s been invaluable.

“I was shocked to win the award, it was a really nice surprise.”

Winners at the 13th Temp of the Year Awards also included, Alice Benbow (administrator of the year), Ben White (customer dedication award), Barbara Cuthbert (PA/secretary award), Catriona Stewart, Sian Heath-Halley and Zoe Cassell (special recognition awards).
