Work underway on Aldridge site
Work is underway for a new build 55,000 sq ft industrial development in Aldridge.
Completion of the Airfield 55 unit for occupation is programmed in April.
Birmingham-based Trebor Developments and Kay Properties are developing the scheme and have appointed A&H Construction, of Halesowen, as their building contractor.
The project has grant support from the Black Country Growth Deal and will see an unused, brownfield site developed to create new employment for the area.
Bob Tattrie, managing partner of Trebor, said: “We are always pleased to see projects start on site following a great deal of effort from our team. This new, quality, industrial accommodation is suitable for B2 manufacturing or B8 logistics/distribution uses and we expect strong interest from occupiers, given the lack of such sized accommodation across the Midlands."
Stewart Towe, chairman of the Black Country Local Enterprise Partnership, said: “It is fantastic to see another great project start on site in the Black Country which will see brownfield land developed to support our world-class manufacturing sector and of course will create new employment in the area. We are delighted to be working closely with partners to transform former industrial land in the Black Country and in doing so transform the Black Country economy.”
Councillor Lee Jeavons, deputy leader and portfolio holder for regeneration at Walsall Council, praised the partners: “This new development will create another much needed high quality industrial unit in Walsall, supporting business to grow and local people access to employment. I am pleased to see the Black Country’s Growth Deal funds being deployed on important economic, job creating opportunities."
