Black Country Run boosted by business leaders
The Black Country Road Race has been boosted by the support of the region's business leaders.
Members of the Black Country Chamber of Commerce have joined forces with organisers from Halesowen and Rowley Regis Rotary Club.
The event, run over roads in Halesowen town centre, will take place on Sunday, June 30.
There is a 10k event, for the more serious runners, and 5k for the family fun run.
The 10k primarily attracts, but not exclusively, the serious runners, wishing to add further times and achievements to their own successes.
The fun run is designed to attract less serious runners and families looking for a good Sunday day out and at the same time raise funds for favoured charities.
This year the organisers are again issuing a challenge to businesses in the Black Country, and surrounding areas, to enter corporate teams of five members for the fun run at an entry cost of £100 per team.
Corporate teams will be able to enter the whole team in the fun run and any team member wishing to enter the 10km road race at no extra cost.
Teams must comprise of at least one member or employee of the business and then members of their families, including children.
The corporate teams will run – or race – for the benefit of their company’s chosen charity or charities, the whole of the money raised by the runners will be distributed by the companies to their own charities.
More than £150,000 has been raised by runners since the first road race eight years ago and the chamber is urging members to take up the challenge and encourage employees, suppliers and customers to do the same.
The 10k starts at 9.45am with the family run at 11.30am.
