Bremner to make an impression at BLS Bicentenary Gala Dinner
Satirical impressionist Rory Bremner has been confirmed as the special guest speaker at Birmingham Law Society’s Bicentenary Gala Dinner, to be held later this year.
James Turner, president of Birmingham Law Society, said: “The 200th anniversary dinner will be a fantastic way to celebrate not only the society’s history and legacy but also its future as it continues to shape and lead what is a changing and dynamic legal sector, both in Birmingham and the West Midlands.”
Established in 1818 with 19 founder members, BLS is now the largest regional law society in the UK, with more than 4,000 members drawn from law firms and barristers’ chambers across the West Midlands.
To mark the historic milestone, a year-long programme of Bicentenary themed events has been organised by the society.
A book has also been commissioned to chronicle BLS’s history, and to chart the rise of the profession and the influence lawyers have had on the professional, business and civic life of the city and the region.
The Bicentenary Gala Dinner will be held on October 4 at the International Convention Centre. Tickets can be booked via the Birmingham Law Society website or by emailing Gala200@birminghamlawsociety.co.uk
