Black Country Business: Brierley Hill firm set to expand manufacturing with eyes on nuclear and aerospace
Significant opportunities in nuclear and aerospace will continue to support Alloy Wire International’s expansion in 2025, bosses at the firm say.
The leading manufacturer of round, flat and profile wire is looking to build on last year’s record breaking £18.5m sales performance and believe these two sectors offer lots of opportunities, with the aviation market still ramping up after Covid and considerable investment being ploughed into nuclear reactors to help fuel the world’s energy requirements.
To cope with the anticipated increase in production, the management team are exploring various options to create more manufacturing space, whether that be at its existing site in Brierley Hill or a purpose-built facility nearby.
If plans come to fruition, it will mean more room to spread out existing machines, the possibility of adding new technology and recruiting new members to the AWI team.
“A lot of companies continue to use up bloated stock that they brought in during Covid-19, so 2025 will be a tough year but not one without opportunities,” commented Tom Mander, Managing Director of Alloy Wire International.
“Aerospace continues to be a big user of our 62-strong range of high-performance alloys and our pipeline of work is growing all the time in this arena. Nuclear power generation is another key focus for the next eight months.”
He continued: “More countries are investing in this form of power generation to fuel the shift to a low-carbon global economy and our material is ideal for producing components that go into the reactors and need to withstand heat and chemicals.”
Alloy Wire International, which is hoping to secure the nuclear specific IS0:19443 quality standard in 2025, manufactures round, flat and profile wire in 62 Exotic alloys, such as Inconel, Monel, Hastelloy, Nimonic and Waspaloy.
