Chamber set to shine spotlight on inspirational female business leaders
The contributions of female entrepreneurs from across the region are set to shine as part of a new event hosted by the Black Country Chamber of Commerce next month.
The Black Country Chamber of Commerce is inviting businesses from across the region to attend its inspirational International Women’s Day lunch event.
The event, set to take place on Friday March 7 at the Molineux Stadium in Wolverhampton, will highlight the incredible contributions of women in various sectors, with a particular focus on football, photography, leadership and mentoring.
Black Country Chamber of Commerce CEO Sarah Moorhouse said: “We are delighted to welcome local businesses to our 2025 International Women’s Day event. With an exciting lineup of guest speakers, it promises to be an inspiring and insightful event.
“It will be a great opportunity to celebrate the achievements of women, learn from influential speakers and network with likeminded professionals.”
The event’s first speaker will be Jenny Wilkes, chair of Wolves Women, who will give insights into her career journey and the important role she plays in advancing women’s football. Jenny’s experience provides valuable lessons on perseverance, leadership and breaking barriers in a male-dominated sport.
Following a two-course lunch, guests will hear from Dr Denise Maxwell, an international photographer and University of Wolverhampton alumna.
Since taking the bold decision to leave her job within the NHS, Denise has broken barriers in her industry and has been awarded a doctorate for services in photography.
The event is one of many run by the Black Country Chamber of Commerce to back women in business. In 2019 the organisation established a Women in Leadership network to support and celebrate women in senior leadership roles and help inspire the next generation.
The theme of 2025’s International Women’s Day is Accelerate Action. The worldwide day is calling on supporters to acknowledge the strategies, resources and activity that positively impact women’s advancement and look for ways to significantly reduce the barriers to women’s equality.
Event tickets are priced at £39.50 for Chamber members and £49.50 for non-members. Places can be booked at www.blackcountrychamber.co.uk/events.
