Walsall firm is on the lookout for candidates for its 'ambitious' leadership scheme
A Walsall roofing specialist is on the lookout for its next generation of talent after launching a new leadership programme.
Jones Weatherproofing says its new Accelerated Leadership Programme(ALP) will help ambitious, successful candidates to develop the skills they need to go from working solely ‘on the tools’ into on-site management on prestigious projects in the UK and abroad.
The firm is recruiting for 6 positions on the scheme from Monday, January 13.
Launched in response to an increase in the number of high-profile projects that require supervisors to have a broader range of skills and manage multiple teams on site, the company says the scheme is designed to identify and train the next generation of specialist tradespeople, who can combine hands-on site expertise with strong site management capability, effective communication, digital skills and have the desire and drive to succeed.
The scheme is open to individuals with a range of experience, from newly qualified graduates and apprentices wishing to fast track a career, to experienced time-served tradespeople looking for something more.
"As the construction industry continues to become more digital, the requirements for the projects we’re working on has changed,” said Matt Jones, Commercial Director of Jones Weatherproofing.
"Alongside the ability to deliver high quality workmanship, our supervisors need to be able to manage multiple teams, have high levels of computer literacy, an excellent understanding of HSE and good administration skills.
"We know that there are young people who have recently graduated, are finishing apprenticeships or are already working on the tools who are digitally proficient and have the potential and drive to go right to the top."
"We designed the ALP to give them the training and experience to excel, first on the tools learning from our experienced team leaders, and then supporting them with the skills they need to start their management career as a team leader ultimately moving on to managing multiple teams and clients on an array of different weatherproofing projects. They should also have a working knowledge of computer software such as Microsoft Office and have strong administration skills.
"We work on some of the biggest construction projects, not just in the UK, but globally, so joining our new ALP is a great opportunity for enthusiastic individuals to really fast-track their careers.”
To apply for a place on the ALP, applicants must demonstrate they have good communication skills, be able to interpret basic technical drawings and show a commitment to delivering exceptional workmanship with the highest levels of health and safety.
As they move through the programme, ALP team members will develop the skills required to progress. This will include learning how to proactively communicate with clients to manage projects effectively, while taking responsibility for identifying staff development and training to ensure that high levels of quality and workmanship are delivered.
Jones Weatherproofing is keen to receive applications from people working in construction, although this is not essential for the right candidate as training will be given. While the company is based in Walsall, operatives will work on projects across the UK and there is the potential for working abroad too.
