Metal finishing and surface coatings expert Jamie Westley has started a new senior role as the firm's Group Process Improvement & Technical Sales Manager.

Jamie, who has 33 years experience in the trade, has previously spent his entire career at The Electrolytic Plating Company Limited (EPC) before the Walsall business fell into administration earlier this year.

Wolverhampton Electro Plating (WEP), part of the Anochrome Group, purchased two divisions of the failed business, safeguarding a dozen EPC jobs in the process.

Jamie was later offered a position within the Anochrome Group. His new roles include overseeing improvements to Anochrome’s six sites, addressing any issues as they arise and assigning new work to the most appropriate part of the business.

“I was obviously sad to see EPC close after such a long time there, but I am delighted to be starting a new chapter with Anochrome," he said.

“Anochrome has a fantastic reputation with OEMs and within the industry and supply a vast number of finishes. I know a number of the team from seminars and exhibitions over the years but look forward to getting to know them better.

“I was really impressed to see the amount of investment that is underway across the Group and I am looking forward to playing my part in the business’ continued success.”

Jamie entered the industry at 17-years-old after a six-month stint as a bingo caller. He started on the factory floor at EPC before progressing to Site Manager.

“The industry has changed so much since I started,” said Jamie, who races pigeons in his spare time. “If you had told me we’d be working with robots I wouldn’t have believed it. Technology will just keep on developing from here.

“The working conditions have also improved dramatically for everyone across the industry.”

Mark Jones, Anochrome Group Managing Director, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Jamie into the team.

“Jamie has incredible knowledge and an excellent rapport with customers. He has settled in well already and we are confident he will play a significant role in our growth plans.”

The Anochrome Group of companies are surface coating and metal finishing specialists and supply many market sectors from automotive and construction, to wind energy and petrochemical industries.
