A Bridgnorth-based entrepreneur is up and running in Wolverhampton hoping to offer a helping hand to people with poor credit history with his 'no check' retail business.

The doors to Trust Shopping, a new business offering mobile phone and catalogue shopping services, opened in the Wulfrun Centre in Wolverhampton last month, with owner Andy Perry hoping to give a leg up to people with poor credit history using his "trust-based" business model.

"Trust Shopping was created to cater for people that probably couldn't pass a credit check," he said.

"Fundamentally the business works on building trust with that customer - so normally if you can pass a credit check you'll get your goods on day one and you're good to go. If you cant, generally there isn't really anyone else who can deal with you apart from high-cost short term lenders at 1300/1700 percent interest, loan sharks, all the bad stuff at that end.

"There isn't really anyone helping people in that situation which is what I'm doing here."

The business supplies goods without a credit check, but asks customers to make a number of initial payments up front before any goods are delivered to help build a working relationship.

Once the goods are delivered, the customer makes the remaining payments but the business offers flexibility on late repayments in exchange for up-front communications, Andy says.

"The way that we work is different, we don't credit check you but we ask you to demonstrate that you're a reliable customer," he added.

"All we ask is that you make four payments before you ship the goods, that shows us you can afford it and that you're a reliable and trustworthy customer."
