SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY: "There's something about us Black Country folk" - innovative PR firm looking to an AI-powered future
A Black Country PR firm says it's 'incredibly optimistic' about the future as it hopes to reposition itself on the leading edge of AI-powered communications.
Consultant Laura Tatton runs Consult PR and Marketing Ltd from Wolverhampton, and says after fifteen years working in Public Relations the firm is now looking to broaden out into a new wave of AI inspired communications.
Speaking ahead of Small Business Saturday, a campaign to support small businesses which runs each year in December, she said the region's "warm, enthusiastic" businesses were well positioned to help ahead of competition from big city firms.
"Sometimes you can miss what's under your nose, when what you need is actually right on your doorstep," she said.
"Particularly in the Black Country I think there's something about us Black Country folk, we're really warm and enthusiastic and we are 'Salt of The Earth' kind of people who know what they're talking about. We want to do a good job and we're not in a habit of charging a fortune of what we do.
"I think this year's been quite tough and there's been a lot of hesitancy around the budget, the general election and having a new government, but the pipeline for January to March looks really good so I'm very optimistic.
"This year the business celebrated 15 years of trading and I made the decision to rebrand, relaunch the website and also diversify."
The company is now hoping to specialise in AI powered public relations, where firms use technology to help them improve their public relations through the use of generative AI to streamline processes.
"For me, I just want to continue to trade successfully and carry on representing my long-standing clients who I'm immensely grateful for, and then I'd like to broaden the client base positioning us as leaders in PR, but also AI powered PR," she added.
"I've been embracing the wave of AI that's upon us, so in addition to the PR services we offer I now also offer the training programmes in generative AI, so the last 12 months I've had lots of speaking opportunities regionally education industry peers, individuals and businesses in the AI field.
"The expectation is to expand the generative AI programme and contacts in that field and also just to help educate businesses in adopting smarter practices."
