Walsall-based chartered surveyors, valuers and auctioneers Kumar and Company say Police forces nationwide are likely to be among the interested bidders in the "highly specialised forensic IT equipment" listed for auction this week following the collapse of Digital Forensic company Avatu Ltd.

East Midlands firm Avatu provided digital forensic services to police forces and government agencies, among a range of other clients, but hit financial difficulties before being wound up this year.

The auction includes 154 lots including specialist computer imaging systems, IT equipment, smart screens and office furniture.

“The current auction running has 154 lots on offer and, in this instance, we have assembled some into complete forensic analysis kits," said Rajiv Kumar, managing director of Kumar and Company.

“This was a highly specialised IT security company that has unfortunately proven to be another victim of the economic impact of Covid.

“While some of the lots will be of interest to general business bidders, some of the more specialist equipment will be of considerable interest to police forces nationwide."

The auction is set to run until November 21, with further details on the company's website.
