Staffordshire firms are set to learn the secrets of Japanese-style manufacturing productivity with a free seminar set to be held next month.
The event, set to be held at Stoke City's Bet365 Stadium on Wednesday, November 20, will be centred around lean manufacturing techniques and is aimed at firms looking to improve productivity across their business.
Staffordshire Lead for the Made Smarter Programme, acclaimed digital technology specialist and Kaizen champion, Tim Kirby, will be leading the event, which is being organised by Stoke-on-Trent & Staffordshire Growth Hub.
Used globally in manufacturing and engineering businesses, Kaizen and the Continuous Improvement Process are both approaches to gradually improving products, services or processes.
Tim, who has more than 20 years of experience at Toyota and Bentley Motors, will focus on lean manufacturing and how to implement the Continuous Improvement Process and Kaizen to reduce unnecessary waste.
Stoke-on-Trent & Staffordshire Growth Hub Manager, Rachel Wood said: “Manufacturing and engineering are major drivers of Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire’s economy and this event is designed to bring the best advice and insight to help them to grow and thrive.
“Made Smarter is a £1.9 million scheme, launched in the West Midlands in 2021, to help manufacturing and engineering SMEs utilise new digital technologies such as AI, advanced robotics, big data and wearable technology to improve their efficiency and productivity.
“Tim Kirby leads the initiative in our region and we are delighted to have him share his experience and insight on lean manufacturing at our seminar, to help give our local businesses the advice they need to gain a competitive edge.”
The workshop runs from 9am until midday and includes refreshments and networking opportunities.
