Tearful goodbye and hundreds of memories as popular Wolverhampton wool and crafts shop says goodbye
It will be the end of an era when a popular Wolverhampton wool shop closes its doors – but the owner says she is determined to look forward, not back.
Tracey Spilsbury from Wulfrun Wools and Crafts in Penn will shut up shop after 25 years when a new tenant for the shop can be found and admits she is emotional about it.
For Tracey has not just run the shop for that length of time, but was brought up in the trade - her mother ran the Little Folk shop in Tettenhall.
She said: "This business has been in the blood, quite literally. I used to go to work with mum and helped her with the shop until setting up on my own – the cards and messages I have had since the customers knew I was leaving have been amazing.
"But we have seen a drop in the number of customers in the face of competition from online and Covid hit me hard, not that I want to use that as an excuse but it has been quite tough the last three or four years. The lease is up on the shop and when a new tenant can be found that will be it."
