VGN Boulevard on Coventry Street had been voted one of the top 10 vegan restaurants in the country for its decadent take on vegan fast food.

Their dishes included the cutting edge 3D-printed steak, a Fillay Oh Phish burger, and vegan whippy ice cream.

The family-owned restaurant had already been closed for several weeks due to the owners, husband and wife team Ben and Nicola Powell, taking time off to look after their dog who was undergoing chemotherapy.

But on Wednesday, Ben and Nicola announced to their loyal followers that the restaurant would not be reopening.

One of the pivotal reasons behind the closure was the financial strain exerted on the business by the pandemic and the loans they extended to help with furlough top-up payments, which has prevented them from being able to make a profit.
