Jobs boost for Aldridge as firm takes over industrial site
New jobs will be created when a manufacturer relocates its operation to an industrial site in Aldridge.
Walsall Council planners have given the green light for RMP Products to move into the borough and on to the former Fuel Furnace site at Middlemore Lane in Aldridge.
The company currently employs 30 people at its Wednesbury base but said the relocation will see an extra five jobs created.
Among the work to be carried out having secured planning permission will be the installation of a 5.7 metre high oxygen cylinder critical to the firm’s works, the creation of 21 car parking spaces with two spots for disabled and the erection of security fencing around the site.
Agents Rob Duncan Planning Consultancy said: “The application proposes a series of works to an existing site that is located within an established industrial estate.
“The applicant has recently acquired the site and is in the process of relocating its operations from their current base in Sandwell.
“The works proposed in this application will provide security to the site and will also formalise the car parking arrangements on the site, providing additional off-street car parking.
“The proposed oxygen tank is a critical component of the applicant’s operations, who specialise in high definition plasma cutting, CNC flame/gas cutting, chamfering/edge bevelling, machining, grinding and shot blasting.
“To this end their operations amount to high quality industrial activities.
“The applicant currently employees 30 members of staff and forecasts
generating an additional five members of staff as a consequence of its relocation to these new premises.
“The works proposed in this application are part of a substantial investment in the premises by the applicant to enable the sustainable growth of their business.”
