The White Lion, on Stafford Road, Cannock, has reopened following an easing of lockdown.

Michelle Davis, who is a new licensee of the pub, said: "Lockdown has tested even the strongest people, including myself, but I’m really proud of where I am now. I could not be more excited to open my pub and welcome back customers. Pubs can now start to move on from the past year and I don’t believe that anyone will ever take our importance for granted again.

"I am determined to make the White Lion a success for the sake of the community and I’m really looking forward to meeting the locals and to show them what the White Lion now has to offer.

"It’s been a hard journey taking on a pub during lockdown but thanks to Admiral Taverns and its constant support I managed to secure a financial grant which has enabled me to open the pub and for that, I’m extremely grateful."
