Chippy batters the competition
A chippy has beaten competition from thousands of other takeaways for a top award.
Codsall Fish Bar, Wolverhampton Road, has scooped the Good Food Award for fish and chips.
More than 536,000 takeaways in the UK compete for the accolade.
This year saw a record number of entrants and votes cast for the finalists by customers.
The winners were based upon customer feedback, nominations and number of votes.
A spokesman for The Good Food Awards said: “Over the last 12 months we have evaluated customer feedback and Codsall Fish Bar demonstrated exceptional levels of food quality, service and value when compared to our industry benchmarks in their category.”
Andy Papa, owner and winner of the award, said: “This award means a lot to me personally, especially to be receiving it at a time like this.”
Gavin Williamson, South Staffordshire MP, recently visited to congratulate them on their win. He said: “They thoroughly deserve it.”
