Wall Heath bakers hang up their aprons after two decades
A couple who had served fresh bread and cakes for more than 20 years are set to bake their final bun.
Tim and Chris Davis will be retiring from their business Davis's Family Bakery after 21 years of serving the community in Wall Heath.
The 59-year-old Tim and 61-year-old Chris will hang up their aprons on Christmas Eve to enjoy a well-deserved retirement.
Their daughter Louise, who still works at the bakery each Saturday, said she was thrilled for her parents and looked back at the past two decades.
She said: "They've worked so hard for 21 years and it's given myself and my brother Matt the best childhood and so many happy memories of the bakery and us being together as a family.
"It's been the centre of their lives and my brother still works there, with me helping on a Saturday, and the customers have kind of grown up with us.
"It just goes to show that hard work and following your dreams can really pay off."
The couple have been a leader in the community during the pandemic, delivering food and prescriptions to vulnerable people and Louise said they would be greatly missed.
She said: "I know that everyone will be sad to see them leave, but that just shows the level to which they are embedded in the community of Wall Heath.
"When they are able to do so, they are going to take a few holidays and visit places they haven't been to, so as seeing my dad's cousin in Gold Coast in Australia.
"They've not been able to do a lot of travel due to the unsociable hours they've worked, so they're really looking forward to doing all that."
The bakery will be taken over by new owners in the new year.
