Property development company, HBD, part of the Henry Boot Group of Companies, has unveiled its detailed remediation and outline regeneration proposals for the £100 million Phoenix 10 development in Walsall.

The 44-acre industrial site is set to become a new gateway to the Black Country, with the potential to create up to 1,100 new jobs.

A public consultation is now taking place via an online exhibition, where further information about the proposals can be viewed and members of the public can provide feedback.

The online exhibition will include details of how the derelict land will be cleaned-up and made ready for construction, and how the vacant development site will be transformed into a 21st century Industrial & Business Park, featuring a range of new commercial premises with around 620,000sq ft of employment floorspace.

The consultation also features a freephone information line and email address for local people to ask questions and provide comments, with a team in place to respond.

Following the public consultation, a planning application will be submitted to Walsall Council.

If plans are approved, land remediation would begin next year, construction would start in 2023 and the aim is for the site to open for business in 2027.

Councillor Adrian Andrew, deputy leader of Walsall Council and portfolio holder for regeneration, said: “This is the beginning of a new and exciting phase for this vital ongoing project that is a big piece in our jigsaw to regenerate our borough and strengthen our economy.

"This public consultation is an important step in the journey towards development of this former Copper works site. It will give local residents the chance to find out more about the plans and share their views on proposals that will bring this long vacant site back to life.”

Vivienne Clements, executive director at HBD, said: "We’re delighted to be unveiling our plans for Phoenix 10, providing more detail on our remediation programme and our proposals for transforming the site.

“It’s a shame we can’t hold a public consultation event and meet people in person to discuss our proposals, but everything will be available to view online and in locally-delivered brochures. Our team will still be on hand to talk to people on the telephone or via email.

“We look forward to discussing our plans for Phoenix 10, which will create modern industrial jobs within a new manufacturing and logistics hub.”

The online exhibition for Phoenix 10 can be found at https://phoenix10walsall.co.uk/ with the consultation running from November 30 to December 14. The community Freephone (free from landlines) will also be available throughout: 08000 356 480.
