Mountain Warehouse store to close at Merry Hill eight months after opening

Mountain Warehouse will close its doors at the Brierley Hill-based shopping centre in January, the site's operator intu announced this week.

The retailer, which specialises in hiking, camping and skiing equipment, opened at Merry Hill in February.

But an intu Merry Hill spokesman said: "We’re sorry to hear that Mountain Warehouse is expecting to leave the centre in the new year and we wish their staff well.

"We are always working hard to keep our store line-up fresh at intu Merry Hill and have already welcomed a number of new stores to the centre over the last few months, including fashion favourite Apricot and independent store The Chuckling Cheese Company.

"Mothercare will be returning and operating within Boots shortly and we’re also excited to see Bon Pan Asia restaurant opening its doors in the near future too."
