KPMG, the company handling Intu’s administration, informed employees on Friday.

The administrators revealed that Matthew Roberts had decided to leave the role he had held since April last year.

Mr Roberts was previously the chief financial officer.

The administrators have successfully secured £12 million from creditors.

The move has enabled Intu’s 17 UK shopping centres to remain open for a six-month period.

The group has also retained key Intu operational staff to ensure the continued smooth running of its centres.

Intu also owns and manages the Trafford Centre in Manchester and Lakeside, in Essex.

Intu employs 3,000 directly, with a further 102,000 people working in its UK shopping centres.

Another 30,000 people are employed in its supply chain.
