Award-winning Codsall butchers reports success with new order and collect service
A butcher has been in the business for 62 years and said he has been a lot busier recently as he has launched an order and collect service.
Allan Bennett is the owner of award-winning Allan Bennett Butchers in Codsall.
He said: "I've been a lot busier as people can ring up and place an order and it will be ready for them in a bag when they get here, they quote a number, get the bag, hand over the money and they're gone.
"It's organised down to the ground.
"Every Friday and Saturday there's a queue down the street because of the two-metre distancing.
"Everything we sell we make. We buy cattle and lamb from Bridgnorth market. We have complete control over everything.
"It is hard work, it's a non-stop job from morning to night.
"I've been doing it since I was 15 and now I'm 82."
The team at Allan Bennett Butchers have won a number of awards and in 2018 its Sunshine Sausage was named the nation's best.
It was the fourth time the butchers walked away winners of the Champion of Champions awards.
The butchers picked up the title for its Mediterranean-inspired recipe - using local pork, garlic, tomato, oregano and basil - at a London prize-giving ceremony.
It previously won the award in 2004, 2009 and 2012.
