The company closed its depot in Noose Lane, Willenhall, last August leaving 192 people out of work.

Now a Birmingham employment tribunal found that the company failed to undertake a consultation.

Staff at the firm told the Express & Star of their anger after being told they will lose their jobs within 10 days.

Nuala Toner, managing director of NUALAW which represented a number of those made redundant across the country, said it had received a judgment securing compensation for 195 of the employees including some in Willenhall.

They will receive payments of up to eight weeks at a maximum of £538 a week from the Redundancy Payments Service.

Aspray Transport had operated from 1982 in Willenhall and had 449 staff across the UK.

It was next-day delivery arm of the Aspray Group which also included Aspray Logistics and Aspray International.

Aspray Transport was family run for 38 years but was bought by the Bushell Investment Group in March last year and entered into a company voluntary arrangement in April in a bid to manage its debts and renegotiate with creditors.
