An application has been submitted for six industrial units at Willenhall Lane Industrial Estate in Bloxwich.

There are currently three business on the 55,000sqm site. An extra 228 car parking spaces would be created along with the 180 jobs.

The units would range from 2,000sqm to 8,000sqm if the application is approved.

Agent Jeremy Hadfield says in the application: "The external appearance of the buildings have been designed to combine contemporary materials with crisp, modern and robust detailing.

"The use of various cladding profiles and colours within a considered palette help to create a strong, clear and high quality appearance.

"The site is currently occupied by an industrial unit, a DVLA vehicle impound and an external storage facility. The remainder of the site is covered in the concrete floor slabs and hard standing areas of the buildings that used to occupy it."

The site is located immediately to the south east of Willenhall Lane, west of Fryer’s Road and east of the Wyrley and Essington Canal, about 3.5km north west of Wallsall town centre.

Access to the site would be from Willenhall Lane and Fryer’s Road.

Impact

Mr Hadfield adds: "The buildings have been orientated with all of the service yards facing inwards so that they have minimum impact on the local environment.

"The units have a range of sizes to maximise the lettings. Each unit has its own designated car parking and service yard.

"The proposal has been designed to allow for the manoeuvrability and turning of all vehicles on the site.

"The proposed site layout will allow for direct access into the service yard.

"Non vehicular access will also be via Willenhall Lane for Units 1 - 5 and Fryer’s Road for Unit 6.

"Good pedestrian access into the site will offer a safe way for pedestrians to access the buildings.

"The site will also be well served with Sheffield stands for the storage of bicycles.

"There are also good public transport links to the site."

A decision will be made by Walsall Council in the coming months.
