And it has hailed "an extremely successful start" to its partnership with Italian firm Greentech Dryers, which makes paint-drying robots. Since that deal was unveiled in March Todd has installed the integrated robot technology into a number of spraybooths around the country, most recently as part of a large bodyshop renovation project at Fix Auto in Penzance.

Lee Todd, who founded and runs the business with his fellow director brother Chris, said: "An installation such as this is not only great for the company but for the workers too, they get to do something a bit different and that really motivates them, especially the when we promote the end product, it is something for them to be really proud of."

The Rugeley-based company has received high praise from its client; Stuart Cameron at Fix Auto Penznace said: "'Quality job’ sums up the creation of our new express repair centre. Todd Engineering has been outstanding throughout this project and the quality and attention to detail from the whole team really shows.

"We are looking forward to the increased efficiency that this development will create.

"The Three booths with the robotic drying arch the additional preparation work bays equipped with LED lighting, electric doors and overhead dust extraction units make this a very impressive workshop.”

Off the back of this major project, Todd has also secured the installation of two large commercial booths which feature two sizeable high-end E8 drying robots. This installation is for the Mercedes Benz dealership Sparshatts of Kent and represent a big investment, with each bodyshop costing up to £140,000.

The latest wave of work comes after Todd’s most successful year in its history with £4.5 million turnover. This year the company is on track to surpass that figure after securing a £500,000 contract to produce multiple spraybooths for an overseas company.

Lee Todd said: "It‘s an extremely well established international company and we are privileged to be able to work with them on this development.

"The installation has been broken into two parts, the first of which is a commercial booth and the installation of this has already begun and the full completion date including the second part forming of two more commercial ovens will be completed in early January.

"This job has moved forward faster than most due to the customer’s needs and we are looking forward to seeing the end results, which will hopefully lead on to more work in the offshore market."

Todd Engineering is building a strong reputation for its work overseas, installing four industrial-sized spraybooths for National Oilwell Varco – an equipment supplier for the oil and gas industries – at its sites in both Aberdeen and Houston, Texas, two years ago, as well as securing work in the Middle East more recently.
