Grant McPherson is currently director quality and automotive safety but takes on his new role, on July 1, as a member of JLR's board of management.

He will report directly to Jaguar Land Rover chief executive Ralf Speth and will be responsible for more than 20,000 people working across the company’s UK and global manufacturing operations and logistics teams, including the 1,800 at the engine factory on the i54 site, north of Wolverhampton.

Mr McPherson replaces Wolfgang Stadler, who retires at the end of June having joining the business from BMW in 2013.

Ralf Speth said: “I would like to welcome Grant McPherson to the Jaguar Land Rover board of management as our new executive director of manufacturing. He will oversee the ongoing investment into our UK and global manufacturing, transforming our plants to enable Jaguar Land Rover's exciting electrified future.

“Grant's appointment brings further strength and depth to our leadership team as we look to execute the next phase of our growth and efficiency plan.

“I would like to thank Wolfgang for his dedication and support during recent years. We wish him a long and happy retirement.”

Mr McPherson joined JLR in 2011 as operations director at the Jaguar factory in Castle Bromwich, and has been in his current role since 2013. Before joining Jaguar Land Rover he worked for Honda.
