Latest sales figures show Land Rover sold 6,446 cars in North America last month, up 5% on January last year. But Jaguar sales fell 11%. Overall the Jaguar Land Rover combined sales figure of 9,050 cars made it the company's second best January in the US.

The Range Rover Velar, with 1,522 units sold in January, maintained its position as the most popular vehicle among Jaguar and Land Rover buyers for the last four months

JLR's North American chief executive Joe Eberhardt said: "After coming off a record-setting year in 2017, we are starting 2018 with a successful January sales month for Jaguar Land Rover.

“With the recent launch of the Jaguar E-Pace and the 18 MY Range Rover and Range Rover Sport, we are in prime position for sales growth in the U.S. market this coming year."

While sales have dipped in the UK, in the US last year JLR sales hit a record of 114,33 vehicles, up 9% on 2016.
