It extends its three-year framework agreement with Western Power Distribution to deliver excavation, cable laying and reinstatement works in the region. The extension will run until October 2019.

Morgan Sindall says it will work on Western Power's distribution networks in Telford, Tipton, Birmingham, Stoke-on-Trent, Hereford and Ludlow, Worcester and Gloucester.

Morgan Sindall chief executive John Morgan said: "We are very pleased to have been awarded this contract extension, which we believe reflects the close and productive working relationships we have with Western Power Distribution, and the quality of the work we do.

"It also reflects the range of skills and capabilities we have in our construction & infrastructure division and its strong position for the future."

Morgan Sindall was originally appointed to the framework, with an estimated annual value of more than £30 million, in November 2014. The extension, which is worth up to a further £60m, will enable Western Power Distribution to maintain and enhance its electricity network.

Morgan Sindall will deliver planned and reactive works on Western Power Distribution's 11kV to 33kV distribution networks throughout the West Midlands region.
