New jobs at growing Kidderminster carpet group Brockway
Kidderminster based Brockway Carpets and its new sister business, Grosvenor Wilton, have launched a recruitment campaign aimed at expanding its workforce.
The announcement follows Brockway’s recent acquisition of Grosvenor Wilton, one of the nation’s oldest and most prestigious independent carpet manufacturers.
It means around 10 new jobs with more on the way over the 12 months. And it offers a welcome lifeline to workers facing the axe at rival Kidderminster carpet maker Brintons, where up to 60 job cuts have been announced.
Grosvenor Wilton is looking for full-time and part-time staff to support the company’s expansion plans at its Hartlebury, Worcestershire factory.
Chairman Charles Annable said: “We’re looking to recruit across a wide range of skills and experience from experienced weavers to junior apprentices.
“We have immediate requirements for specialist skills, such as experienced winders and weaving engineers. And we’re particularly keen to encourage youngsters into the industry who are looking for entry level career opportunities to learn how to weave.
“We make beautiful carpets for some of the world’s most exclusive buildings such as the White House and Buckingham Palace.
“So those who join us have the chance to develop their skills, and share our pride in the creation of the finest quality, hand crafted carpets for some highly prestigious projects.”
Brockway is also seeking a range of staff to fill other tufting and ancillary roles at its Kidderminster factory on Old Chester Road.
Charles Annable added: “The growth of Brockway over the last two years together with our acquisition of Grosvenor Wilton means we’re able to accelerate growth plans by expanding our 100-strong workforce.
“This aims to further strengthen the group’s position as the UK’s leading manufacturer of beautiful, wool-rich carpets.
“We’re planning to hold a ‘jobs fair’ soon, meantime we’d like people who are interested to contact us directly.”
Brockway has been designing and producing premium quality, hand finished carpets in Kidderminster since 1964.
The company says it aims to combine British craftsmanship with the use of the finest raw materials to ensure the sustainable manufacture of award-winning carpets.
Grosvenor Wilton has been a manufacturer of Wilton and bespoke carpets since 1790 for the world’s most historic palaces, stately homes, public buildings and private residences.
