More than 200 people have already signed up to attend, and organisers believe it promises to be the biggest event ever held to promote trade, co-operation and investment between the Midlands and any African country.

Uganda has a population of more than 40 million and GDP growth of 5.8% annually. It offers opportunities in a wide range of sectors including food processing, other manufacturing, energy, tourism education, healthcare and ICT.

The country has a stable economy and a government strongly committed to supporting the private sector. Added to this is a low cost workforce, investment incentives and English as the common language.

Uganda also offers a base for supplying neighbouring countries in East Africa including Kenya and Tanzania, which have a total population of over 400 million.

The conference, which is being sponsored by the local growth hubs and business and regeneration consultancy Geonomics Ltd, has a series of high profile speakers including the Uganda High Commissioner, Her Excellency Joyce Kikafunda, and the Ugandan Minister of State for Privatisation and Investment, Evelyn Anite.
