Administrators from DFW Associates, Leeds, have been called into Bilston Engineering on the Spring Road industrial estate, Lanesfield.

The company, which was established in 1980, specialises in light sheet metal products.

It was bought by the Ripon-based Tessarae Group, owned by Douglas Bedford, in 2015 and has been at its current 24,000 sq ft premises since 1989.

One of the workers, who did not wish to be named, said: "Me and my colleagues were informed that our wages couldn't be paid and the company is going into administration.

"There's almost 50 of us employed there. We are all shocked as the majority have 20 years service.

"We are currently in limbo as technically we are still employed and therefore cannot get another job without breaking our service."

The Bilston Engineering premises have been locked up and telephone calls to its office have not been answered.
