Sales grow strongly for Dunelm
Homeware retail group Dunelm, which has 149 superstores across the UK, has reported sales up 12% to £202.3 million for the quarter to October 3.
Like-for-like sales in its shops were ahead 4.4% at £171.8m with home delivery up 25.9% to £11.5m.
Dunelm, which has shops in Cannock, Kidderminster, Oldbury, Stafford, Walsall and Wolverhampton, said that all categories showed a robust performance.
It opened one new site in the quarter and 10 further openings are under contract, including two re-locations.
Chief executive Will Adderley said: "Our sales performance was strong in the first quarter, reflecting the steps we have taken to refresh our product range, improve seasonal merchandise and to create an improved shopping experience for our customers in-store.
"The growth achieved in like-for-like store sales is particularly pleasing, and we maintained a solid performance in home delivery following the launch of our new website in July. As the new site becomes fully bedded down, we expect to see substantial further growth through this channel."
Dunelm has also bought the Fogarty brand and trademarks on a worldwide basis. Fogarty, which can trace its history back almost 200 years, is a leading British brand with a reputation for high quality pillows, duvets and mattress protection products. Dunelm currently sells a number of Fogarty products through its stores and online.
