Year sees Techworx, Willenhall expand and invest
Another record year during 2011/2012 saw Techworx achieve a number of important milestones in moving to new 10,000 sq feet premises and the acquisition of a new state-of-the-art laser cutting machine through a £500,000 investment.
Established in 2006 Techworx has seen both its client base and sales figures excel year after year to the point where during 2011 a move was on the cards and with it expansion into the premises that are Techworx in Willenhall Trading Estate, Midacre.
Its directors hold more than 60 years experience between them in laser cutting, press braking, punching, design and planning.
Customers have stayed loyal to Techworx due to the nature of the business, said director Glenn Smith. "We don't operate a 'place an order one day, delivery three or four days later'approach.
"We are personally in contact with each and every customer on our books to offer a friendly alternative to how a product is made or to develop there existing product base further with our knowledge approach.
"We have a design office that all our customers have the use of to develop there products further where sampling, cost reductions, new designs are put through our advanced computer-aided design centre to achieve a net result we are all happy with."
The new laser cutting machine is capable of cutting up to 25mm thickness in mild steel, 20mm thickness in stainless steels and 15mm in aluminium sheets up to a maximum of 3m x 1.5m.
Due to the new characteristics of the new range of Trumpf machines, holes can be pierced and cut in less than a second to an accuracy of +/- 0.1mm.
Glenn Smith said: "No longer do you get lead in/out blips as with other machinery on the market so holes can be tapped straight from cutting, removing the need to clean/ pre drill etc.
"Holes can now also be cut in half the diameter of the material thickness which again has cut operations and time of a processed part to completion.
"We also offer the facility for tube cutting up to 3 metre lengths maximum section 200mm x 100mm x 10mm thickness, angles and channels can also be laser cut up to the same sizes as tube which was really our core business going back four years."
Also on offer are second, third, fourth operations to finish parts in the form of drilling, tapping, c/sinking, riveting, studding, brake pressing and also final paint finishing.
2013/14 is gearing up to be another record year for Techworx which will see further investment later in the year of £100,000 in a new state of the art brake press to add to its current machinery capable of increasing bending to 25mm thickness.
