John Sarwar, who is originally from Pakistan, set up G&F Garage in Darlaston as a one man band in 1982 and has run the company ever since.

G&F Garage, which was originally called the Workshop, is sited in an industrial site in Darlaston and provides MOT testing, repairs and servicing

John's son, Farrukh Sarwar, aged 30, said: "We held a small one hour event to celebrate my father's 30-year anniversary working for the business.

"His employees came along and celebrated too and we made a special sign congratulating him on his hard work over the past 30 years."

Mr Sarwar has successfully grown the business over the past three decades and now has 13 employees.

The joyous occasion celebrated the amount of success Mr Sarwar has encountered over the past 30 years as he nears his retirement.

The West Midlands company has previously sponsored local junior football team, Great Wyrley Tigers under-eight's.

They donated £300 in 2005, funding the team's new kit which emblazoned the G&F logo on the team's shirts.

G&F Garage isn't the only company Mr Sarwar has run during his time in the area.

Farrukh said: "My father used to run three companies all at the same time before he sold one of them and then incorporated the other two.

"The event is supposed to be a bit of a surprise but I think he may know that something is going to happen."

The celebration was held on September 17 at G&F in Station Street.
