Jackie lands a top role at centre

The BIC, which encourages and promotes innovative practices, now has nine offices throughout Staffordshire. The new deputy chief executive, appointed this month, is Jackie Millward, who was the the company's accountant. Jackie joined the BIC in March 1999 when she was appointed as centre manager of the first two offices in Newcastle-under-Lyme. The BIC, which encourages and promotes innovative practices, now has nine offices throughout Staffordshire.

The new deputy chief executive, appointed this month, is Jackie Millward, who was the the company's accountant.

Jackie joined the BIC in March 1999 when she was appointed as centre manager of the first two offices in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

She was based at Newcastle Enterprise Centre looking after the tenants and introducing them to the world of innovation.

Jackie was at the time studying for her accountancy exams and on completion was appointed to the role of accountant in 2003. She is also a qualified business advisor and shares her financial expertise with the BIC's clients.

The new director of innovation Sandra Butterworth has worked at the BIC for more than 12 years, during which time she has been the champion for innovation

Sandra joined the BIC as business manager in 1996 with responsibility for bringing new business and new product ideas into the BIC.

She is a qualified business advisor responsible for the marketing and publicity of the BIC and organises all its events and workshops which are aimed at giving people the skills to be more innovative.

Her passion for Innovation and the commitment of the BIC itself to promoting Innovation both within and outside the company has lead to the new role as director of innovation.

The not-for-profit organisation was set up to encourage and promote innovative practices amongst individuals and local businesses. It provides business advice on new product ideas, runs workshops to give people the skills to be more innovative, has its own product development and start up grants and has incubation facilities to help people set up in business.

It is funded through sponsorship and UK and European regeneration funds.

The BIC has nine offices throughout Staffordshire and its headquarters is on the Staffordshire Technology Park in Beaconsde, Stafford.
