More than 3,000 jobs for city
Over the past 10 years Lichfield has seen an extra 3,300 jobs created because of work by a Staffordshire development agency, it has been claimed.
InStaffs, which was created in 1997, is a partnership of six Staffordshire councils plus the chambers of commerce to bring investment into the area.
The agency has now unveiled a 16-page 10-year review document which reveals Lichfield's growth in jobs thanks to InStaffs support.
The report was launched at the city's Garrick Theatre and details how hundreds of companies have benefited from its advice and help.
John de Kanter, chief executive at InStaffs, said: "It has been a real roller-coaster ride, but one we feel has seen Lichfield emerge as one of the most desirable inward investment locations in the UK.
"We've seen unbelievable changes to every inch of the area and have been able to work with a wide range of strategic partners.
"We are really pleased to have supported so many companies to set up here and this has brought significant new job opportunities in both traditional and emerging sectors."
Stoke-on-Trent sits at the top of the job creation table with more than 4,500 jobs, followed by Lichfield at 3,300, Newcastle-under-Lyme on 3,200, East Staffordshire at 2,500 and Stafford on 1,900.
The agency said that 1.5million sq metres of space had been taken and £340 million was spent each year within the local economy by people who had found positions at newly relocated companies.
