IOPC investigating serious golf course collision that happened during police pursuit leaving woman in life threatening condition

An investigation is underway after a van that ploughed through a golf course during a police chase left a woman with life-threatening injuries.

Staffordshire Police is appealing for witnesses after the collision that took place at Aston Wood Golf Club on Blake Street in Shenstone. 

At 10.25am on Friday, a grey Nissan van struck a woman who was on the golf course as it was being chased by West Midlands Police cars.

Both forces are working together to trace the driver and two passengers who fled the scene.

The van was already being pursued by police following reports of suspicious activity. 

The woman was airlifted to hospital with injuries described as life threatening.

Specialist officers are supporting the woman’s family, and a police cordon is in place around the entrance of Aston Wood Golf Club. 

The Independent Office for Police Conduct is now investigating having been informed by West Midlands Police in adherence with their standard procedure. 

Staffordshire Police is asking for the public's help in tracking the occupants of the van and wants to speak to anyone who was travelling in the area with any information or dashcam footage that could help the investigation.
