The suspect was initially pulled over by police at around mid-day on April 7 due to not wearing a seat belt.

However, officers claimed to have been able to 'smell' booze on the driver and subjected them to a breathalyser test.

It gave a reading of 87 - which is more than double the legal limit.

WMP Traffic tweeted: "Routine traffic stop in Wolverhampton today at mid-day due to the driver not wearing a seat belt.

"Driver smelt of alcohol, breath test requested and a reading of 87 provided at roadside! Driver arrested and soon to be charged."
