Temporary road diversions in place for multiple roadworks in Wolverhampton

Wolverhampton Council have announced that three routes in the borough will experience disruptions due to groundworks in the region. 

The diversions will be in place today, with some expected to be in place until April 15. 

Emergency Severn Trent Water works will mean a temporary road closure for Birches Barn Avenue, Wolverhampton, outside of no.24, with the closure expected to remain in place until tomorrow (April 9).

A diversion has been put into place, and will see traffic follow Birchies Barn Road to Church Walk and vice versa. 

A Wolverhampton Council spokesperson said: "Severn Trent Water emergency works mean a temporary road closure on Birches Barn Avenue, outside No.24, expected to remain in place until tomorrow (April 9). 

"Vehicular diversion route: Birches Barn Road, Church Walk and vice versa."

Emergency West Midlands Metro works will also mean the temporary closure of Steelhouse Lane and the suspension of the right-hand turn from Steelhouse Lane onto Bilston Road.

The route will be closed from 11.50pm to 4.30am every night, with diversions set to follow Bilston Road and Bilston Street Island. 

The diversion for the suspended right-hand turn will follow Wellington Road, Lichfield Street, Oxford Street and Oxford Street Island.

The diversion is expected to remain in place until Tuesday, April 15. 

The spokesperson added: "West Midlands Metro emergency works mean a temporary lane closure on Steelhouse Lane and suspension of the right-hand turn from Steelhouse Lane onto Bilston Road, from 11.50pm to 4.30am only, every night until Tuesday, April 15. 

"Vehicular diversion route: Bilston Road, Bilston Street Island. The vehicular diversion route for suspension of righthand turn: Wellington Road, Lichfield Street, Oxford Street, Oxford Street Island."
