Man arrested for possessing an air weapon after armed police swarm on Burntwood address

Staffordshire Police were called to the scene of an address following reports of a disturbance.

Staffordshire Police officers rushed to the scene of Highfields Road in Burntwood at 8.20pm on Thursday, March 27, following reports of a disturbance at an address on the road. 

Responding officers attended the scene, where armed officers were then deployed in the are due to reports of a potential weapon being inside. 

An air rifle was seized from Address and one was injured.

A 49-year-old man, from Burntwood, was arrested on suspicion of assault, criminal damage and possessing an air weapon with intent to cause fear of violence.

A Staffordshire Police spokesperson said: "We were called to an address on Highfields Road in Burntwood at 8.20pm yesterday (Thursday 27 March) following reports of a disturbance.

"Response officers went to the scene, where Armed officers were then deployed due to a potential weapon inside. An air rifle was seized from the address and no one was injured.

"A 49-year-old man, from Burntwood, was arrested on suspicion of assault, criminal damage and possessing an air weapon with intent to cause fear of violence."

The man remains in police custody during enquiries.
