Girl, 12, left with 'potentially serious' injuries after being hit by a car near Dudley Co-op

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 12-year-old girl was hit by a car in Dudley.

Emergency services were called to Dibdale Road West near the Co-op shortly after 5pm on Thursday where they found the young girl, who is believed to have been with her granddad at the time. 

West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) sent two ambulances, a paramedic officer, a MERIT trauma doctor, and a critical care paramedic to the scene.

The girl was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Birmingham Children’s Hospital with injuries that were described as 'potentially serious'. 

The driver remained at the scene to help officers.

A WMAS spokesperson said: “We were called to reports of an RTC involving a car and a pedestrian on Dibdale Road West in Dudley at 4.59pm. We sent two ambulances, a paramedic officer, a MERIT trauma doctor, and a critical care paramedic to the scene. 

"On arrival crews found a girl, the pedestrian, who they treated for potentially serious injuries before conveying her under emergency driving conditions to Birmingham Children’s Hospital.”

West Midlands Police said they are investigating the circumstances of the collision. 

A spokesperson added: "The girl was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Birmingham Children’s Hospital with injuries described as not life-threatening. The driver remained at the scene. 

"We are studying CCTV to establish the exact circumstances.  Witnesses or people with information can call 101 quoting log number 3898 of 27 March.
