Five men charged after a number of savage weapons found and police officer assaulted

Five men have been charged after police discovered a number of horrific weapons in their possession, including sawn-off shotguns and a zombie knife.

As part of the major investigation, the suspects were held in a series of raids in West Bromwich and Birmingham on Wednesday morning. 

A number of bladed weapons were seized along with an air gun, incapacitant spray and cash.

Muhammad Sharif, of Bromford Road in Hodge Hill, Mohammed Khan of Edmund Road in Birmingham, and Zahir Hussain of Dudley Street in West Bromwich, all aged 20, as well as Ibrahim Ajmal, aged 19 and of William Cook Road in Ward End, and Awais Atmar, aged 18 and of Chetwynd Road in Birmingham, are all accused of conspiring to sell or transfer weapons including handguns, automatic weapons and sawn-off shotguns between July 2023 and this month.

Atmar is also accused of possessing a zombie knife in a private place, while Hussain is accused of possessing a knuckle duster in a private place and assaulting a PC to resist arrest.

All are due before Birmingham Magistrates today (March 28).
