The two new staff will be responsible for putting on special exhibitions and bringing more groups into the Northgate based museum and to increase income through further grants and funding to secure the future of the popular attraction.

Buses, fire engines, private cars and more - all with a West Midlands connection - are on display and chairman Martin Fisher said whilst visitor numbers are good, they can't afford to rest on them and the two new staff members would help.

He said: "We are looking at things like a new café, an expansion of the souvenir shop and bringing in more groups from schools and the community to see us and enjoy what we have to offer.

"We are all volunteers here but the funding will be used for two full time members of staff whose roles will be specific in increasing visitor numbers, funding and expanding what we offer here - we are very grateful to the two organisations for the grants."
