West Midlands Police have appealed for information following a 'fight' between two groups of girls in Walsall town centre.

Emergency services, including Walsall neighbourhood policing teams, rushed to the scene of Gallery Square, near the New Art Gallery Walsall, at around 4.30pm on Thursday, to reports of a large gathering of people and a fight involving two groups of girls.

In a video, sent to the Express & Star, a large group of youths could be seen rushing to the city centre with shoppers voicing their concerns over what is happening.

Arriving at the scene, officers quickly worked to disperse the large group, before putting a section 35 'dispersal order' into place, which allowed officers to break up groups of two or more people who they believe are causing a nuisance, harassment or distress.

The spokesperson said: "Immediately after, we deployed a Section 35 dispersal order for the town centre which enables us to break up groups of two or more people, where we believe their behaviour is causing a nuisance, harassment or distress."

Officers are continuing to investigate the disruption, asking anyone with information to contact them directly via their 101 number, or the Live Chat service on their website
