Highways crews assessing repairs needed on Staffordshire road after crash which killed 'loving' local dad

A busy Staffordshire road is in need of repairs following a crash which left a man dead.

Temporary traffic lights are in operation on Hednesford Road near Rugeley following the fatal collision on Saturday (March 22) afternoon.

Local dad Scott Bryan, aged 41, was confirmed dead at the scene, while a woman and two children were taken to hospital with injuries which were not thought to be serious.

A further man and a woman were assessed and discharged by ambulance crews at the scene.

Staffordshire County Council said highways crews are assessing the repairs needed on Hednesford Road.

Darryl Eyers, director for economy, infrastructure and skills at the local authority, said: "Our thoughts are very much with the families involved following the fatal collision on Hednesford Road over the weekend.  

"Highways crews have been in attendance and have installed temporary traffic lights whilst they assess the necessary repairs to the road surface."

Emergency services - including an air ambulance - were called to the crash at around 4pm on Saturday.

A pair of off-duty paramedics also stopped to offer their assistance.

Paying tribute to Villa fan Mr Bryan, his heartbroken family said: "Words can’t describe the loss we feel saying farewell to you. You meant the world to us.

“But heaven chose to give you your wings and now it’s time you fly high to be with your mom.

“We wish we had one more chance to see you smile and laugh again just for a little while."

Staffordshire Police has appealed for witnesses or those with dash cam footage of the collision to get in touch.
