The blaze, which started around 1am on Saturday saw firefighters from Walsall, Fallings Park, Wolverhampton, Bilston, Willenhall, Bloxwich and Dudley stations tackling it.

A West Midlands Fire Service spokesman said they were on the scene for an extended period of time and used five jets due to the quantity of waste affected by fire.

A statement said: "Several multi-agency briefings were held throughout the incident, with Cadent, Severn Trent, Wolverhampton City Council, National Rail, Environment Agency and Canals and River Trust participating. Gas and electricity was isolated from the building.

"Drone operations also supported firefighters, and a high-volume water pumping unit helped maintain supply to the scene.

"Crews damped down throughout Sunday and were assisted by on-site staff who moved waste with machinery. "

"They will continue to be on site today (Monday) to check for hot spots."
