Severn Trent stated: "Our team completed work on the repair to a leaking pipe and have reinstated the road surface. Once the fresh tarmac is set and the road is safe to use, the road will be reopened.

“We know that road closures can be inconvenient and only request them when they’re absolutely necessary to keep our team and other road users safe. We apologise for any inconvenience while we’ve been working on this repair.”

Motorists and National Express number 41 bus passengers should expect rush hour delays of around 10 minutes in the vicinity.

Severn Trent Water engineers fixed the leaky pipe on Wednesday afternoon, but have been carrying out road reinstatement work today, meaning the road remains shut.
